Ask Wolfgang

Hello there! I’m Wolfgang, the AI-powered reception assistant at the Anderswo Camp.

I know pretty much everything* the Anderswo team knows. Since we’re often unable to answer the phone or might take a little while to reply to emails – because we’re busy looking after our guests on site – why not ask me first?

Give it a try – have fun!
Feel free to ask him if he speaks your language.

* Wolfgang is constantly learning. Just like us humans, he can sometimes make mistakes. So his answers come without guarantee.

FAQs

I’d like to come from xx.xx. to xx.xx. – is there still a spot available?

Our booking system always knows this in real time – and, to be honest, usually better than we do when we’re out and about on site.
So please go ahead and book your desired spot directly.

On the site map provided there, you’ll find:

  • the cardinal directions for sun positioning

  • the size of each pitch

  • electricity access

  • the locations of Wi-Fi access points

  • the layout of the sanitary facilities

  • prices for your selected period and pitch

  • and more details

…so you can choose the perfect spot for your stay.

We don’t have a barrier.

You’re welcome to access your pitch before reception opens (from 1:00 PM) or after it has closed.

If it’s already dark when you arrive, please drive very, very slowly to your pitch to avoid endangering anyone.
If it’s your first time staying with us and you’ve booked “Into the Wild” or “Blueberry Hill”, please take a look at the pitch and the access route on foot first – otherwise you might end up in a dead end. It’s not a circular road around the site.

The valid price is always calculated directly in the booking system once you enter your desired details.
The price varies depending on:

the type of pitch: vehicle or tent

high or low season

whether you need electricity

the number of people and their ages

Your furry friends are very welcome – and free of charge. You’re also welcome to bring more than one dog.

Please always keep your dog on a lead. It’s your responsibility to ensure a harmonious interaction between your pet and your fellow campers.

Kindly dispose of any messes properly, both on-site and on neighbouring properties.
We specifically ask that you do not walk your dog on the grounds of the Salvador Allende House or on the football field opposite.

In the forest, there’s no need to bag up your dog’s mess – just remove it from the path using a stick.
That’s the official recommendation from the National Park.

As a rule, you pay your invoice at the end of your stay.
You can pay by card, PayPal, or cash.

We’re happy to add any extras—like bread roll service, drinks from the honesty fridge, or items from our shop—directly to your final bill.
That way, you can settle everything in one go at the end and don’t need to carry cash around.

If you’re only staying briefly and prefer to sort payment right away (e.g. for an early departure), you’re of course welcome to pay upon arrival.

No, you don’t need shower tokens – our showers work just like the one at home.
So please remember to turn off the water after showering, and use it responsibly – for the sake of future generations.

We truly thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Here’s the most important thing first: In general, campfires and barbecues are allowed up to wildfire danger level 3.
In summer, we check the wildfire risk index (DWD) daily and put up signs if the situation becomes critical.
Please also take personal responsibility when it comes to fire safety and read and follow our campfire rules – it’s the only way we can continue to allow fires on site.

Private campfires in raised fire bowls are ONLY permitted on pitches 1–33 (“Im Garten”).

On “Into the Wild” and in the “Blueberry Fields”, fires at individual pitches are not allowed – but there are shared fire pits for cosy evenings together.

Unfortunately, we can’t reserve fire bowls.
Feel free to grab one from the garage next door. If they ever do run out – which is very rare – you’re more than welcome to sit at one of the shared fire spots or join your neighbours.
Could be fun, right?

You’re welcome to bring your own fire bowl – as long as it has legs to protect the ground from burning.
You can also bring your own firewood, as long as it’s properly dried to avoid excessive smoke for those around you.

We do our best to describe each pitch accurately on our site map and in the booking system. But since every pitch is a little different – which is part of their charm – and weather conditions vary, the decision is ultimately individual.
You know your vehicle best.

“Im Garten”

  • Suitable for all vehicles and tents

  • Expect some tree roots, especially near trees

  • Close to sanitary facilities

  • Electric hook-ups available

  • Heavy vehicles like trucks should only book pitches 12–18

“Into the Wild”

  • Accessible for VW-bus-sized vans, normal cars with tents or roof tents – even without 4WD

  • Make sure your vehicle or tent size fits the pitch

  • Motorhomes – except for very small 4WD ones – are not suitable. They can often get in, but not back out

  • Caravans: small/mini ones may be fine if you have the right towing vehicle and feel confident manoeuvring in tighter areas
Regular or large caravans should stay “Im Garten”

  • Few electric hook-ups available

“Blueberry Hill” (bookable from June/July 2025)

  • The front pitches in the upper row (numbers to follow) are accessible for buses, campervans, and standard-size motorhomes

  • The rear pitches, both upper and lower, can only be accessed by vehicles up to 6.5 m in length

  • Electric hook-ups available

  • Important: the road is not a loop. Please check in advance that you can exit again safely before entering

Of course, you’re welcome to show up spontaneously – we completely understand that this is part of the spirit of camping.

If you do, please either arrive during reception hours, or use your phone on site to book yourself into a free pitch and set up.
You’ll find Wi-Fi access at the entrance. Just drop by the reception at the next available time.

That said, many guests do book in advance these days – so during busy periods like holiday weekends and school breaks, it’s possible that no suitable pitch will be available.

So, for better choice and peace of mind, we recommend reserving your pitch in advance through our booking system.

Yes, Wi-Fi on site is included. There are several access points throughout the camp, which you can see on the site map. That way, you can choose whether to be close to or far from them – and depending on your location, you may have signal or not.

However, since we’re in a very rural area, our main internet connection is still limited in capacity. So during peak times, individual connection speeds may slow down.

Mobile reception is generally quite good for most providers across the site.

If the weather turns bad, you’re always welcome to take shelter in our lounge. Especially if you’re staying in a tent during a thunderstorm, we recommend coming inside for safety.

In the lounge, you’ll find plenty to do: read a book, play board games together, enjoy a game of billiards, darts or pinball, relax with others, and help yourself to drinks from our honesty fridge.

During the day, there are also great family-friendly excursions for rainy weather, such as:

  • the nearby open-air museum in Finsterau with a children’s play barn and lovely places to eat

  • the Hans-Eisenmann-Haus at the Lusen National Park Centre

  • the Haus zur Wildnis

  • or the Forest History Museum

…just to name a few – all of which are reachable by public transport from the camp. With the National Park card you receive from us, transport is free of charge.

Insider tip: With the right clothing, the forest is especially beautiful in the rain!
