Ask Wolfgang – our AI reception assistant

Hi, I’m Wolfgang (Beta), the AI-powered reception assistant at Anderswo Camp.

I know pretty much everything* the Anderswo Camp team knows. Since we’re often unable to answer the phone or may take a bit to reply to emails while looking after guests on site… just ask me first. Give it a try – have fun!

Feel free to ask me, if I speak your language.

*Wolfgang is constantly learning. Just like us humans, he can make mistakes from time to time. His answers are therefore provided without guarantee.

Booking & Stay

Is a pitch still available for your selected dates?

Our booking system is always up to date to the minute – and, to be honest, often better informed than we are when we’re out and about on site. So please go ahead and book your preferred pitch directly there.

On the site map provided, you’ll find:

  • the orientation of each pitch (sun position)

  • the size of the pitch

  • electricity connections

  • Wi-Fi access points

  • the location of sanitary facilities

  • prices for your selected dates and pitch

  • and more details

so you can choose the perfect spot for your stay.

We don’t have a barrier.

You can arrive before reception opens (from 1:00 pm) or after it closes and go straight to your pitch.

If it’s already dark, please drive very, very slowly to avoid putting anyone at risk. If it’s your first time staying with us and you’ve booked “Into the Wild” or “Blueberry Hill”, please check out your pitch and the access on foot first to make sure you don’t get stuck in a dead end. There is no loop road around the site.

The valid price is always calculated directly in the booking system based on your selected dates. The price varies depending on:

  • the type of pitch (vehicle or tent)

  • peak or off-season

  • whether you require an electricity connection

  • the number of guests and their ages

You can find a price list here.

As a rule, you pay your bill at the end of your stay. You can pay by card, PayPal, or cash. We’re happy to add any extras – such as bread roll service, drinks from the honesty fridge, or items from our shop – directly to your overall bill. That way, you can settle everything conveniently at the end without needing to carry cash all the time.

If you’re only staying briefly and prefer to have everything sorted in advance for an early departure, you’re of course welcome to pay upon arrival.

No, you don’t need any shower tokens – our showers work just like the one at home. So please turn off the water after showering and use it responsibly for future generations. We truly appreciate it!

We do our best to describe each pitch as clearly as possible in our site map and booking system. However, since all our pitches are a bit different – which is part of their charm – and conditions like weather can vary, the final decision is always individual. You know your vehicle best.

As a general guide:

“The Garden”

  • Suitable for all vehicles and tents

  • Expect tree roots near trees

  • Close to sanitary facilities

  • Electricity connections available

  • Very heavy vehicles (e.g. trucks) should only book pitches 12–18

“Into the Wild”

  • Suitable for vans (VW bus size), campervans, and regular cars with tents or roof tents – usually even without 4WD

  • Make sure your vehicle or tent fits the pitch size

  • Motorhomes (except very small 4WD ones) should not use these pitches – they often get in, but not out

  • Caravans depend on your setup: small trailers may work if you’re confident manoeuvring; standard and large caravans should stay in “The Garden”

  • Limited electricity connections

“Blueberry Hill” (bookable from June/July 2025)

  • Front pitches (numbers to follow) in the upper row are accessible for vans, panel vans, and standard motorhomes

  • Rear pitches (numbers to follow), both upper and lower, are limited to a maximum vehicle length of 6.5 m

  • Electricity connections available

  • Important: there is no loop road – please make sure you can exit before driving in

You’re of course welcome to arrive spontaneously – we know from our own experience that this is part of the spirit of camping.

If you do, please either arrive during reception hours or book yourself into a free pitch on your phone once you’re here and move onto it. You’ll find the Wi-Fi access in the entrance area. Then just stop by reception at the next available time.

However, since many guests now book in advance, it can happen that during peak times – such as holiday weekends or school holidays – no suitable pitches are available.

So you’ll have a better choice and more certainty if you secure your spot in advance through our booking system.

Yes, Wi-Fi on site is included. There are several access points around the camp, which you can see on the site map. This allows you to choose whether you want to stay closer to them or further away – depending on that, your connection will vary.

However, as we’re in a very rural area, our main internet connection still has its limits. When the campsite is busy, this can affect individual browsing speeds.

Mobile reception is generally quite good on site for most providers.

You can always use our common room on site when the weather is bad. Especially during thunderstorms, we recommend seeking shelter there if you’re staying in a tent.

In the common room, you’ll find plenty to do: read a book, play board games together, enjoy billiards, darts or pinball, hang out, and help yourself to drinks from our honesty fridge.

During the day, there are also great excursion options for rainy weather for the whole family – such as the nearby open-air museum in Finsterau with its indoor play barn and cosy places to eat, the Hans Eisenmann House at the Lusen National Park Centre, the House of Wilderness, or the Forest History Museum – just to name a few. All of these are accessible by public transport from the campsite, which is free to use with the National Park Card you receive from us.

Insider tip: with the right clothing, the forest is especially beautiful in the rain!

Camping & pitches

What types of pitches are available at Anderswo Camp?

At Anderswo Camp, you’ll find nature-based pitches in the forest instead of classic, marked-out plots. You can stay with a motorhome, campervan, caravan, tent, or rooftop tent. The pitches are spread across different areas of the site and offer plenty of space and a close connection to nature.

Yes. At Anderswo Camp, motorhomes, campervans, caravans, tents, and rooftop tents are all welcome. Our pitches are intentionally designed to be close to nature, with plenty of space between each camp.

First things first: campfires and barbecues are generally allowed up to forest fire danger level 3. During summer, we check the official forest fire index from the German Weather Service (DWD) daily and put up signs if conditions become critical. That said, we also rely on your personal responsibility—please read and follow our campfire rules. That’s the only way we can continue to allow fires on site.

Private campfires in raised fire bowls are ONLY permitted on pitches 1–33 in “The Garden.”

In “Into the Wild” and the “Blueberry Fields,” fires are not allowed directly at your pitch. However, there are shared fire spots where you can gather and enjoy a fire together.

We’re not able to reserve fire bowls. You can simply take one from the garage nearby. If they ever run out—which almost never happens—feel free to join one of the shared fire spots or your neighbours. Might even be more fun.

You’re welcome to bring your own fire bowl, as long as it has legs to prevent damage to the ground. You can also bring your own firewood, as long as it’s properly dried to avoid excessive smoke that could disturb others

Yes, dogs are welcome at Anderswo Camp. The only important thing is that they respect other guests and the surrounding nature of the Bavarian Forest National Park.

Your furry companions stay free of charge, and you’re welcome to bring more than one dog. Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. You are responsible for ensuring a respectful and harmonious interaction between your pet and other campers.

Please dispose of any waste properly on the campsite and on neighbouring properties. We kindly ask you not to take your dog onto the grounds of the Salvador Allende House or the football field opposite.

In the forest, you don’t need to bag waste—just move it off the path and trail edges with a stick, as recommended by the national park authorities.
